Such a shame.Do you want to share files with friends and know it's secure and private? Would u also like the ability to use voice and video to communicate with them, and to simultaneously use Yahoo, MSN and aol? Then get QNext !!

Open Office

OpenOffice.org 2.0 is an open, feature-rich multi-platform office productivity suite. The user interface and the functionality is very similar to other products in the market like Microsoft Office or Lotus SmartSuite, but in contrast to these commercial products OpenOffice.org is absolutely free.

Unplug N Pray

Disable Windows universal plug n play.
Excerpt from this site's page:
Universal Plug & Play is not related to the established Plug & Play hardware standard for PCs. Microsoft presumably adopted the name "Universal Plug & Play" because it is a warm and fuzzy feel-good name. A more descriptive name would have been "Network Plug & Play" since that is exactly what it is.

BTW the author of this tiny and nifty program suggests that after one disables the upnp,to check again every once in awhile. Which is what I did and much to my surprise , I found it turned on when I had previously turne it off.

Win Xp Pro

Whoa,
Finally made the change!
I am now running a dual boot box with my former 98 se (served me oh so well)
and Win XP Pro!
Nice....
Have had some headaches along the way, but all in all a good experience.
Still lots to do.
ie, installs etc. ...........
Had close to 400 programs on my 98 SE, don't need 'em all,
but many are very useful.
Gathering serial numbers, and user id numbers ans settings and then setting them up again onto two OS's is a rreal pain.
educational,none the less.
Happy Whatever to one and all.......

WinPatrol

I've been using Winpatrol for a long while now and wouldn't start my pc without it. I use the free version, but there is also a "plus" version for a one time fee.

WinPatrol uses a heuristic approach to detecting attacks and violations of your computing environment. Traditional security programs scan your hard drive searching for previously identified threats. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. You'll be removing dangerous new programs while others download new reference files.

Extortion and Comcast

Sometimes, you see an instance of overreach on the part of Big Content that just takes your breath away. For instance, Orrin Hatch's asinine call to permit the RIAA and MPAA to hack into and destroy the computers of suspected infringers boggled my mind.

I'm using it and think it works great.
I'm "idigapony" on QNext.

Super Sunday

As Super Sunday (Easter?) approaches, here are some of my superbowl sunday thoughs that arrived to me from being a Bills fan. I realise that it may be loathsome to some of you to be a Bills fan, but I am what I am..........
The Bills were a founding member of the American Football League in 1960. In the AFL, a predominantly offensive league, the Buffalo Bills were a great defensive team. With a linebacking corps of Harry Jacobs, Mike Stratton, and John Tracey; and defensive line stalwarts like Tom Day, Tom Sestak, Jim Dunaway, and Ron McDole.

The 1964 Buffalo Bills squad was one of the great teams in professional football history. The 1964 Bills allowed their opponents only 300 rushing attempts and held them to 913 yards rushing during the regular season; a pro football record, just over 65 yards per game. The same defense registered fifty quarterback sacks, a team record that stands today, even though it was established in a 14-game season. They were the first American Football League team to win 13 games in a season.

In 1964, the Bills defense allowed only four touchdowns rushing all season, and started a string that would extend into the 1965 season: seventeen straight games without allowing an opponent to score a rushing touchdown.
